Now that Fall is here, I start thinking about nice steaming hot bowls of soup for dinner, and that makes me think about making some bowl cozies. I used to make these years ago, but those were a much more complicated pattern. These are quick and easy to make, and a great way to us up your fabric scraps. So what is a Bowl Cozy? Well, have you ever reached for that bowl of soup out of the Microwave and "Ouch!" burnt fingers. Well here's a nice solution to the problem, a potholder shaped like a bowl. You can put it in the microwave and cook your soup/chili, or you can use it to hold your bowl of chili while watching the game. If you plan on cooking with the in the microwave be sure to use cotton fabric. I've been told that polyester will not hold up well to repeated microwave exposure. So break out your Scrap stash, and give it a try! | |

Do you have a printable pattern for your microwave bowl cozy. also do you prewash your material first?

Yes, I do prewash my fabric, this way it won't shrink and distort the bowl cozy. I don't have a pattern, just cut the fabric 10" x 10" and the batting 9" x 9". Thanks!

Thanks. I don't have a printed pattern, but all you have to do is cut the fabric 10" x 10" and the batting 9" x 9".

Me too! I like this idea but wish there was a downloadable pattern to jump-start this project. Also, the video was very helpful.

I've been watching your videos. Pretty interesting. However, i think you should not wear low cut shirts. We are a little to old to be dressing as such. This is my personal opinion. It takes all kinds of ppl to make this big ole' world go round. Maybe you will take heed to my advice. Have a wonderful day.

Well, 2 reasons I am sending you a note. First, thank you so much for a very easy to understand pattern--much easier than the pattern I have been using for a long time. Your videos are terrific. Lastly, I always read comments people write & that 1 by Krafty gma makes me mad! How rude. So personal. It should have been sent privately & not this board! Not only what she said but not true! You weren't even bending over. LOL Disrespectful as well. I am sure a lot of bloggers get a response like that on occasion, but ignore it! She needs a life. LOL Keep doing what you do! Love this video!

I tried to use Wrap and Zap batting as suggested by pattern producer. But as you cautioned, it came out way too bulky, impossible to make nice corners. Can you tell us what brand and type of cotton batting you used?
