No video this time, but I've post photos. I found a new photo frame among my mother in laws things and it was VERY colorful! More colors that suit my tastes. But I couldn't throw it away. I decided on a makeover. First I cleaned it carefully (even thought it was new) then I painted it with an eggshell color, regular wall paint. Once it was very dry, I came back with wood stain (walnut). With a small brush I carefully brushed the stain all over the newly painted frame, being careful to get stain into every rose, and every crack and crevice. I let it sit a few minutes, then came back and wiped away the excess stain. I did have to use Q-tips to get into some of the smaller places, but I was careful to leave plenty of the dark stain where I wanted contrast. Finally, once it was dry (overnight) I sprayed it with a sealer. I used a gloss seal, and I think I may go back and spray it with a matt finish (more of an antique look) but I like the results! So, next time you see something like this, remember, with a little TLC you never know what it can become! |
