We took a quick look in my craft room, and as you may remember from my last blog, the room is in the process of being reorganized so finding the right fabric was a challenge.
She found a half yard of a nice fabric she knew her friend would love, but what could she make with less than a half yard of fabric, in about a half hour? Oh, and add to that, my daughter is really not a sewist… straight lines are about the limit of her sewing abilities. The answer was easy… we decided to make a Journal cover! She added a ribbon bookmark, a pretty pen and she ended up with a really great little gift!
This week’s video is about making that Not-a-lot-of-time, Not-a-lot-of-fabric, Not-a-lot-of-complex-sewing Journal cover using a standard composition book (9-3/4” by 7-1/2”).
The fun thing about this project is how versatile it can be. I’ve made these with quilted covers, embroidered tops, Crazy quilt squares, fun printed fabric, denim (used jeans make a really great cover). You can use your imitation and go wild with this fun and easy to make gift.
This video is the easy instructions to make a basic cover… then add your own touches. I can’t wait to see what you come up with!
This week my daughter had to make a last minute thank you gift and didn’t have much time.
